I want to copy a figure of my dog in one photo and paste it to another photo in a particular location; can I  do that, if so, how?

Hi

Yes you can. It is done by placing the dog photograph as a new layer above the other photograph. Then making a selection of the dog and converting that selection into a mask which will make all the rest of the dog image, except the dog itself, transparent and enabling you to see the background image. The result will be the dog against the other photograph.

There are lots of videos online on how to do this and I highlighted the keywords in red above to help you with searching.
