Question

Copy Vector Graphics to Photoshop

Hello.

I am trying to copy a string of lights vector graphic, downloaded from Adobe Stock(Image 1), from AI to PS. If I select just the lights I get them with the black border (Image 2). If I selact all and then copy I get the checkered background as well (Image 3).  I am trying to add them to the rest of the background I am creating (Image 4)

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts on how I get the effect I am looking for?

Thank you.

Hi @KuvaPix

I've used a couple of these "lights" from Illustrator and they all work in a similar way.

  • First: click the Expand arrow (circled) to expand the layer called "1". You may see groups or loose paths and objects. At the bottom of the panel with be the checkerboard pattern. Click the Lock and Hide buttons in the Layers panel for the checkerboard pattern.

  • There will be Effects on the lights that work best on a dark background, so you'll need to experiment. One choice is to include the dark background from Illustrator and copy it into Photoshop. If that doesn't work, another choice is to darken your image in Photoshop so the lights with their effects work and omit the layer when you copy and paste.

Share screenshots if you have more questions. You can also give us the number of the Adobe Stock image so we can download it and give you a better answer.
