Older files, over a year, are not able to open in the lastest update of PS. 2022 on a Mac running BigSur. What is going on?? I never encountered this before. Does anyone know how I can open these (not that old) files, that I need to access?   The message that keeps popping up: "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file". It's a PSD file!!! Geeezzz!! Come on Adobe!!

Can you zip and upload one of the problematic documents to something like Dropbox or similar so others can try opening them?

Can't hurt, you might try resetting your pref's. Press and hold Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete them; any difference?

How are you opening them?

If you are double-clicking and it's failing, try open them from within Photoshop. Normally, it should recognize the file format when you select the file (A), but if not, try force it by selecting Photoshop under "Enable" (B)

If that works, there is something wrong with your Mac's file associations. If not, can't say what's up.

Hi,

We are sorry to hear you are having this issue! What version of OS Big Sur are you on?
