When I search for this error message it tells me that the problem is Norton anti-virus. I do not have norton anti-virus installed on my mac. Any ideas?

    No need to double post.

Your problem is not related to the one being discussed here, Andre.

The issue has been addressed in Andre's other thread.

    I'm having a similar problem.
I just tried to open some jpeg pictures my daughter sent me that I was able to view before and got this message. Could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid jpeg marker type is found. Here's another message received. Couldn't open the file. It may be corrupt or a file format that isn't recognized. Tried to open it with PS, Preview.
Now I tried to open it with PS and Preview and got this.

As long as the file is not CMYK. IR will not open a CMYK file. Also IR is not included with CS3 so if you don't have a prior version of Photoshop you probably don't have IR.

"You can also try opening the same Photoshop PSD file that is having trouble directly in ImageReady first. I have had moderate success with this method. "

We had the same problem, but in our case ImageReady showed the layers empty.
We found another workaround to revive such a 'broken' file, see this topic: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?128@@.3c057b34

    Reimon Oshana..
"could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop"

I had this exact problem with my file which i was opening and closing so many times and mine wasn't even over a network all of a sudden this msg kept coming up and prevent me from opening my file.. When i was opening that exact same file through my other G5's it was opning no prbs! I found that the problem was actually my primary (System) hard disk didn't have enough space to work on. I only had just over 380 MB of empty space left in it so, i thoght I should delete some stuff, I made the space over 4 GB and WOLLAH! it opened :)
so just try and make sure u have more than a GIG of space in ur scratch disk 'cos the fact that u said u opened it and close it So many times tells me it itself must be a big file and therefore needs plenty of space on the harddrive to work on it. Good luckhttp://www.adobeforums.com/Images/m/pstmymsg.gif

Sometimes this error is due to a preset or options setting in Photoshop folders. Re-installling Photoshop has corrected this error.

You can also try opening the same Photoshop PSD file that is having trouble directly in ImageReady first. I have had moderate success with this method.

Ultimately, I seem to experience this error frequently on my wireless network only. If my computer is plugged into the network on a wire (Ethernet), I don't seem to have this problem.

Currently, I now work directly off of my local hard drive and then transfer the completed file back onto the network. This is the safest method and helps to alleviate unpredictable results. I have lost files by trying to open them sometime later with no success, so the file becomes totally unuseable.

I think the problem is in the wireless transfer method not negotiating the PSD file correctly. I have had no problems with any other file types including Premiere, etc.

    Something in your network.

    Ramon,

I am only trying to find a solution to this problem. We have only recently starting having these file problems and with a lot of our clients requesting their files back as .psd's, I don't want to give them bad files with no answer. The reason I posted the question was to see if any users such as myself had noticed it only affecting these file types, not to attack anyone or
any company, and in the process maybe narrow down the reasons for the problem.
