Could not fill because there's not enough memory.

So today i started up Photoshop cc to edit a photo. Suddenly after half an hour or so it came up with this when i tried to use the content aware tool: "Could not fill because there's not enough memory."

I have 16 Gigs of ram, a 970M GTX with 3GB, intel i7-Core 4780HQ, 1TB HDD and 128GB of SSD.

I have tried to:

Update - Up to date

Mess around with Memory Usage / History & Cache - "Edit -> Preferences -> Performance -> Memory Usage"

Restart my computer.

Restart Photoshop.

Close other programs using up memory.

When i go into "Task Manager" it says only 40% of my memory is used, Photoshop uses 1GB of that.

Any help is appreciated.

I was getting this message and found an easy fix: the correct layer wasn't selected. As soon as I selected the correct one, the error went away.

I'm getting the same error now when trying to fill using the marquee tool. My photoshop is on the most up to date version so that's not a fix. I too have 16GB of RAM and have the scratch disk on a 1TB drive that's not the OS drive. When can this be expected to be resolved?

I do not use CC 2017 because of a bug Adobe introduced in CC 12015.5 the is still in CC 2017.1. However I can test CC 2017 I have it installed on Windows 10 preview build 16179 the latest one. Do you have ant third Party Plug-ins installed? I just opened a 8MP CR2 raw file in CC 2017.1 as a 16bit Smart object layer. Smart Object layers pixels cam mot be modified. So I duped the layer and rasterized the duped layer. I then use Canvas size to increase the canvas size relative to its current size 100% wider and higher. The document size is 187M. I select the duped layer transparent area and use content aware fill. It took some time. I did not expect it to do a good fill. It do not fill my disk or complain it just did a bad job of it. I will post my CC 2017 system info for you to compare yours too.
