Which is your version of Photoshop and OS?

    I bump this question as I have the same problem occuring to and from. Now it happened in a tiff file I saved just a day ago. Sooo frustrating. I use the 21.2.3 version, and the file was saved in the same system after adjustments.Can be opened in Windows picture viewer, but not in photoshop.

      It could be that :

      a. The file has been corrupted   

      or, more likely

      b. The file has been given a psd extension but is not actually a psd file


      If you open the file with a text editor, such as windows notepad, what are the first 4 characters? That will show what file format it actually is.
