Could not open “image.jpg” because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found.

Hi all,

Going a bit crazy here. I'm downloading images from online from a site that I download from all the time. But now when I try to open them in preview or photosho i get the invalid jpeg marker type message. HOWEVER if I drag them into a browser window they open no problem. Any ideas? I don't have the extension hidden so I'm not adding an additional one so I really can't figure this out. FWIW I am on Mac 10.15.4 and this is a new computer.

Update: this seems to be an issue with Firefox because it's working when I download from Safari. But if anyone knows why THAT is, it would be good to know...
