Question

Create default GIF size for exporting to web

I make GIFs that are posted on my Twitter account and I spend a few minutes changing the dimensions of each GIF to get the overall file size below 15MB.

Is there a way to make a Preference change so that when I go to export a GIF it defaults to below 15MB?

I really don't think so, and 15Mb is quite a size for a GIF.  Photoshop will remember the bit depth last used, so if you do not need all 256 colours you could reduce file size a lot by using just a few colours.

Are these animations?  If so what resolution are you using, and how many frames?  Like I said, 15Mb is huge.  Did you mean 15Kb?

These are short video snippets that I turn into GIFs.  Max upload size to Twitter is 15MB so these are typically between 13 and 14.5MBs.

Are you using Photoshop to do the conversion?  If so, do you have a process for removing some of the frames to get the playing time about right?  Halving the number of frames should halve the file size.

What resolution are the exported GIFs and how many frames? What bit depth (number of colours) are you currently using? If you could provide a link to one you have uploaded, we might be able to help.
