Create relief cartography

I want to create relief but I am doing something wrong. I attached a sample file to this post. Can you have a look at it and tell me how to do the steps as in the video below?

Is my file correct?

 

I continue to end up with some fade grey overlay. I use CC.

You need a gradient adjustment layer, which will color the layers below.

    What do you use for the lighting effect? Because that is the thing I am failing at. You using the Infinite Lighting?
