Hi Everyon!

I need some advise and help.

I want to change a selected by mask area of a map and make it shine like a mirror surface.

So take for a example the map of the world.

I would like to select australia in a mask, and then make it shiny as if it's a mirror surface in the shape of australia.

I'm not sure what effects to use here in what order.

Any help would appreciated

Thanks Advance!

If you are looking to get a shiny surface effect this is a nice tutorial http://photoshopcafe.com/tutorials/chrome/chrome.htm

It can easily be modified to be a gold or copper or bronze effect. If your looking for reflections on a surface then that's a bit more tricky.

Mirrors reflect, so you have to decide on the angle of the surface, and what you would see reflected in it.  Check out this thread from a day or two ago, and specifically reply #6 which shows several Alien Skin Eye Candy presets for its Chrome effect.

[EDIT]  I should have added that you might like to look at using Photoshop's 3D tools that have the option of placing an image on the ground plane, that would be reflected in your 3D object according to the properties you give it.  3D is not my strong point though, so I'll leave it someone else to go into detail if it is doable.
