Creating a pattern block for Plaid in Photoshop

I have created a plaid pattern which is done on a very small canvas. How do I created a 12 inch pattern block using this pattern? I don't want to enlarge the pattern, I want to scale it up so that I can create a jpeg that is repeatable. Pattern fill doesn't work because it isn't repeatable. Please help!
