Creating a Tapered Brush for Mouse - Not Working

Hello team.

I'm using the latest version of Photoshop on a Mac Studio, and with a mouse, not a tablet. I'm trying to create a brush that will taper at the end, and it isn't working.

In this video, the guy illustrates excctly what I want to do, but none of those settings are working for me.
