Crop and trim now don't work the same

I used to have a problem finding transparency in the new update but I found it. Now When I go to trim or crop a transparent image it will not do it anymore unless I flatten the image. I could be wrong and my memory isn't what it used to be but I don't remember having to flatten anything to use crop/trim. Is this new?

    Opacity is in the same place as always, in the layers panel.

    You should be able to crop or trim and maintain all of your layers. Maybe you can send a screen grab of your file, or the file so I can see what is going on. Sounds rather strange!
