Crop aspect ratio changing when pasting image into new doc

Hey y'all!

I've got a bit of a weird issue here. So I'm working with multiple files that I'm cropping to a specific size (in this case 8.7" X 11") and pasting into a new .psd. When I copy + paste the image into the new doc, it comes in at 8.7" X 11.39". BUT, if I save it to my desktop and then drag it into the doc, it works perfectly at 8.7" X 11". Any ideas why that may be? Support told me to unlink width and height, but that's the exact opposite of what I want as it then changes the aspect ratio and distorts the image.

Thank you!

Check your pixel aspect ratio settings. Sounds like you are using non-square pixels and in fact the only reason why it works with drag&drop may be that you save to a "dumb" format that doesn't retain the PAR in its metadata.

After an update, I can no longer adjust each bar independently in the crop tool.  It's croppong to the same ratio when I click and drag, regardless of the settings I choose.  How to I move each bar indepent of the other?

Thanks.  I can't find where to start a new post

That did it -- thank you so much!
