Every time I try to use the crop tool.  My photoshop CS5 crashes!  This has never happened until recently.  I have reset the program to factory settings.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled.  So frustrated. HELP!!!!

By the way from some googling I found a solution to this crop-crash problem that's working for me.

In a long thread, on photoshop crash issues with the Mojave operating system, various oddball suggestions worked for various users. This one worked for me.

In System Preferences > Security & Privacy > On the Privacy tab, Photoshop is clicked as allowed to control the comptuer.

-- Unlock and then uncheck this box.

-- Re-lock and close

-- Then reopen system preferences and repeat, but now re-check the box and save and get out.

After that uncheck-and-check step, photoshop doesn't crash on me anymore from the crop tool.

Thanks for reporting back. You can see how hard it is to troubleshoot problems via forums. There can be a number of things going on and of course some just happen without the user touching anything. This may help others like you down the road, so it's marked as an answer that solves the problem.

Hi there,

Sorry that the Crop tool is crashing Photoshop CS5. That shouldn't be happening, let us make it right.

Could you please try deselecting "Use Graphics Processor" located in Photoshop's Preferences > Performance, then relaunch Photoshop and let us know if it helps?

You may also try the steps mentioned here and see how it goes:

Troubleshoot Photoshop graphics processor (GPU) and graphics driver issues

Thanks,

Akash

I'm also having this problem with CS5, where after years of use and no system changes that I'm aware of, photoshop now instantly crashes 100% of the time when the crop tool is used. Other features work fine. This is agonizing.

I don't see a 'Use Graphics Processor' choice in Preferences > Performance. I see 'Enable OpenGL Drawing' but that doesn't help. Any pointers on that, or other ideas? Thanks
