CS6 Student edition installation on a new computer

I have been attempting to install my wife's CS6 student edition on a new computer from disc.  It asks me for the serial number which I am assuming is the same as the product code.  When I attempt to type in the product code nothing happens.  When I use her Adobe Photoshop ID (email address) and password a popup resembling the product code input appears but it will not allow me to input anything.  Can someone please advise me on how to correct this.  I am using windows 10.
