Question

Current PS CC can't read Sony raw files???

I saw on the forums that there was a problem with Sony A7riii raw files that was supposedly resolved in December. I just got my camera, installed latest PS, Bridge, and LR, and I can't open a single picture! Running on Mac Sierra.

Any answers would be most appreciated, because this sucks!!!

For a mere $50,  you can get Capture One for SONY, which will handle your RAW conversions from the A7RIII. It's a great conversion software, been around a long time and it's very inexpensive. I'm disappointed also that PS does not have a RAW converter for the A7RIII but you will like Capture One a lot. Once you've converted, you can open them in PS.

As of Dec 2017 that Sony model A7RIII is supported. See Cameras supported by Camera Raw

If you own the old Photoshop CS series, the latest free DNG Converter will convert the Sony raws to DNG.

I pay a subscription price for Creative Cloud, which includes everything, and presumably the latest, current version of everything - so I don't know about "old" versions. I am manually updating everything today, although it would be easier if the apps were automatically updated. Hoping that the Sony A7RIII is going to be included in the RAW updater.

The Sony A7riii requires at least camera raw 10.1 in photoshop/bridge and Lightroom Classic 7.1/Lightroom CC 1.1

If in photoshop you go to Photoshop CC>About Plug-Ins>Camera Raw, what version does it say?

Check your CC Desktop app for the Adobe Camera Raw 10.1 update. It covers that Sony model.

Refresh your update list by clicking on the three dots and selecting this menu item:

You should see a blue Update button next to Camera Raw and Lightroom.
