Question

Cursor freezes 2 seconds on a Wacom Intuos when opening and closing files in Photoshop

Every time i close oder open a Photoshop file the cursor freezes for some seconds and it makes the impression that ps is doing something as the round balls appear flashwise. I tried everything and even a fresh ps install was not the solution. I deactivated the graphics performance in ps and now it works with no freezes. But i need the graphics engine.

Anyone an idea what to do???

I have the latest photoshop build (22.4.3) and the latest Wacom Intuos driver (6.3.44-1) and i am running Big sur 11.5.2 on an iMac 27" from 2020 with 8-core 3,8 GHz.

How do you have connect the tablet to your Mac? Wireless or via USB? If you use wireless please connect via USB and check again.

You can also try to reset the Wacom settings to the default.

If this doesn't help, try to install an older version of the tablet driver. Sometimes the latest drivers are buggy.

Do you have this issue from the beginning or what has been changed on your system before the error occur?

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 9 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI

My Wacom ist connected with a cable. I tried the previous version, but had the same problem. Several resets. different pens. fresh ps. I did not change anything -no installs no nothing. It happened all of a sudden.

Here is a screencapture. I keep the cursor doing circles the whole time and when the cursor is stuttering/freezing that is the moment that i mean.

Hi. So - troubleshooting:

You relate this to the Wacom. Have you tested this, with the Wacom disconnected?
If the problem is with the GPU, is it happening on all your files, or only ones on which you've run filters?

Does it happen during editing, or only when opening or closing?

Please tell us how much RAM your system has, and how much you're allocating to Photoshop.
Also, my experience is that often when opening a file, the lag is from PS trying to connect to your Cloud info. Are you using a wired or WiFi interface?
When closing, if it's a big file, it takes some time to write the file to the drive and do a checksum - are you seeing a save progress bar at the bottom of your PS window, when closing?

Hi, thanks for your help!

It happens always - even with the smallest gif with no changes made(just closing). It does not happen while using the mouse.
