Cursor in selection tool Photoshop

Question

Hi All, I am having a issue with my Wacom pen while using the selection tool in Ps. When I use anyb of the selection tools and try to add or remove some areas the on screen tip changes from the normal tip ( circle with cross ) to the default mouse cousor ( Arrow ) see photos, it is quite frustrating. I have made adjustments to the brush settings but none worked. any surgestions I might try please.
