Question

Curved text: clockwise and anti-clockwise

A simple question - but I can't find a simple answer anywhere! So please help.

I am putting curved text on an oval path. By default, the vertical type tool enters text outside the oval going clockwise. I want the text to be clockwise inside the oval. When I drag the text inside the oval with the direct selection tool, it flips the text anticlockwise. How can I make curved text go clockwise inside a circular shape? Your advice appreciated.

Leave your text on the outside of the circle, then lower the baseline setting.

I wanted the text running down the inside of the right edge. I discovered that I could position the text on the outside of the oval and then move the text layer left with the select tool. It created a new oval path, leaving the oval shape on the vector mask in the layer below in place. I hadn't expected that.
