Curves layer not working when masked added

Well here we go again. Installed the update. First issues was photoshop stopped allowing me to do anything. Did let me save. Restarted looked like all good.

Add a curves layer. As soon as I add a mask to the curves layer it completely disables the layer. Hide and unhide makes zero diffrence. Delet the Mask and it stop it from linked to a layer it works... UGGGH

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Properties, Options Bar, …) visible?

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

I managed a work around to do that...

The big issue suddenly freezing. I added a clean up cloning layer to the CR2 layer. then working away it just freezes. Only lets me save then I restart and it works again....PAIN an a huge time waster.

Please report the freezing bug to the product developers here, as we are users on this forum and do not work for Adobe.
