Curves previous state not working

In the curves or levels dialog boxes when I make a change, the previous state button, (the one with the eye and curved arrow icon) doesn't respond. In other words I'm unable to view the image as it was before I made the change. I'm not sure if it is a settings problem or something I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

If you turn on "Legacy Compositing" in the preferences under Performance, it will work.

That's the difference Chuck - I had that checked due to the color blend issues

It works for me with Legacy Compositing on as well!

I'm turning it off again, as I'm still testing 2019 and using 2018.

@Davegray1941, Chuck's answer should solve your issue, at least until the first patch comes out.

You are correct. It is not working on the properties panel for some reason. It might be a new bug..on 2019.

For now just turn of the eyeball in the layers panel.

To confirm, are you doing this from the Image menu or as an adjustment layer?

If it’s an adjustment layer, can you click the eyeball in the Layers panel?

From an adjustment layer. I can click the eyeball in the layers panel, also the eyeball on the properties panel.

Okay, I wasn't sure because you said "dialog box", which is technically what you get from the Image menu and that method is destructive. When you do it as an Adjustment layer (best practice), it is a panel.

You don't need to know those terms as a beginner, but that's why I wanted to clarify!
