Question

custom action

Trying to create a custom action in PSD 2020 using shortcut key: cmd, shift F3 for the following action: I make a selection in a closed area to quickly fill with paint but I need to overlap the line I drew enclosing the area to be filled so there's no little white outline around the selected area where pixels weren't included. So I make the selection with the magic wand tool, start to record, then go to: select/modify/expand 2 pixels. Stop recording. When I then try the shortcut it does a "nudge outline" action.

In previous versions of PS (up to 2018) I was able to set this keyboard shortcut for the above procedure. Where do I find that shortcut which now defaults to the nudge outline action; so I can delete or edit it, then that maybe would allow me to use the cmd/hift/F3. I tried settign it using cmd/shift/F2 but it didn't do anything. Thanks for any help.

Hi

Just a thought: are your function keys set to be function keys or brightness,  volume, etc., by default? It can be changed in System Preferences or you can press the fn key to toggle to whatever you have not chosen as the default.

This may or may not be the issue, but it’s the first thing to check for troubleshooting.

Jane,

Thanks for your reply. Currently they are set as standard function keys. As an fyi, I like using F11 to quickly hide my desktop. It's funny because in PSD 2018, this action worked perfecly fine using cmd/shift/F3 and I also had my F keys set for standard function then  so I'm wondering if this is something inherent with PSD 2020...

The arrow keys and shift+arrow keys are used for nudging.

Thanks JJ.  Just tried recreating the action without using the shift key. Created it this time just using cmd/F3 keys. When I ran it on my selection, it still nudges it. Any ideas?

You need to post the action with all of its steps expanded that you set the CMD+F3 shortcur too.  To see why the action nudges the image.
