Hello,

i am trying to constrict my brush strokes to specific angles. Like when pressing shift to snap to horizontal or vertical axis, i need to have the same functionality but with custom angles. like for example 45 and 135 degrees.

Is that possible?

That would be a great feature request, as Illustrator has always allowed guides at an angle. You can convert any path to a guide in Illustrator with Cmd+5 (Ctrl+5 on Windows), and you can also set a specific angle in Preferences — not only 45° and 135°, but any angle you specify, such as 17° or 122°.

If you have Illustrator, you can draw the path there at an angle, then copy it to Photoshop, then stroke it as per Dave’s instructions.

EDIT: In Illustrator, Paths can be converted to Guides, and Guides can be converted to Paths. It’s Paths that you can copy and paste to Photoshop.

If you are a Windows user, then Lazy Nezumi Pro has that function, plus about a zillion others.

With the Parallel Lines preset enabled, you can change the angle either by holding down Ctrl and dragging, or entering the angle in the LNP panel. The yellow disk lets you change the spacing of the line markers. A useful feature is that the guide line rotates about the point where the cursor was positioned when you press Ctrl. I'm sure you can see how that would be useful.

It's easily the most useful plugin I own.

You can quit easily set up Paths to do that. Just layout a grid and use the pen tool to create a few custom shape that are more or less parallel lines. You can then drag out the Parallel line Paths. Rotate, distort them and position them before stroking.

With paths not guides. Paths can be rotated and moved via transform and paths can be stroke, filled merged etc. You va enter angle and move values in the transform options,

Hi

No custom angles in Photoshop, beyond the Shift key.

You can click then move the brush cursor to a new point and Shift-Click that will join the two points with a stroke

You can also make a path with the pen tool (which you can adjust at will) then stroke the path with a brush.
