Question

Custom Save Presets?

Is there a way to have custom save presets? For example I always save my PDFs with certain settings, everytime I click on save as I have to uncheck save as layers, and uncheck preserve editing capabilities. Is there a way to save them as "presets"?

Sorry guys I meant when I'm saving from Photoshop to Photoshop PDF. I make my pdf files in photoshop and export them as pdfs. I don't see preset options

"I don't see preset options"

"Save Preset" marked in red will save the options you create in General, Compression, Output, and Security.

This will take you to the screen where you give a name to your joboptions file.

If you don't see this, then show a screen shot.

Hi Ish,

When you create a "preset" for an Acrobat PDF, Adobe creates a .joboptions file that is then available in all applications on your computer that support creating PDFs. On a Mac, joboptions are stored in:

User > [name] > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Adobe PDF > Settings

To save the joboptions file, click "Save Preset" as C_P has said.

If you can't find this path in Windows, we can ask a Windows user to help.

I'm confused about what you said about Layers, though. Acrobat does not support layers from Photoshop. In addition, layers were not supported in Acrobat until Acrobat 6.

Jane-E, there is an option to check or uncheck layers in the first window, where one can pick the file format.

Hi Pierre,

That is correct. That option is for Photoshop layers, though, not Acrobat layers. If we still had tagging, I would tag @davescm, as he has given the best explanation for the checkbox in the past and the trouble it can cause when folks don't understand it.

Isn’t there a »Save Preset« button at the bottom left?

Guten abend, Christoph, will this also save the settings on the first screen, where one selects the format?

No, that just creates a pdf preset.
