Question

Cutting out specific parts of images/Beginner looking for help/Daniel Walter Scott

Hey, everybody. I started learning Photoshop this month and this is the tutorial I've been learning from:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyR_uYsRdPs

I went along practicing with the whole thing, then this past Saturday I watched from beginning to end without practicing along just to refresh/understand more of some things (I don't remember everything as expected, but I thought it might be helpful doing that).

One of the big things I want to learn is not just combining parts of images, but learning to cut out more detailed parts. I know the lasso tool does that, but I'd like to have a good lesson on it and find out if there's another tool that I can use. Dan doesn't cover that in the beginners course and I didn't find him talk about it on YouTube so far, so I'm wondering if he does in his advanced course. I'd have to pay for it on his website, which I don't mind because his free course helped me and I'd like to support him, but I'd like your opinions on different lessons or if he does cover it in a free lesson.

I want to learn general compositing, such as collages. Thanks for any help!

Adobe provides a lot of content for learning about making selections. I'd recommend looking into the Object Selection Tool, the Quick Selection Tool, Select Subject, Refine Hair, and Select and Mask. Here are some links to get you started:
