Question

Do you know why Photoshop snaps back when moved with a window management tool?

When I use any app like Magnet, BetterSnapTool, Rectangle Pro, etc… to move Photoshop to another place on my screen, it will simply snap back to its previous position instead of staying where I placed it with the aforementioned apps.

Is there a fix for this?

I don’t know why those other apps aren’t working. I use Moom to manage windows on my Mac, and it does work with Photoshop.

However it is useful to note that Photoshop does not exactly follow current macOS window management. Like Illustrator and InDesign, its window code is a mix of old and new. The old behaviors (some going back to the 1990s) have been preserved in part because long time Photoshop users expect it to work that way. But this means that Photoshop windows don’t always behave the way you expect Mac app windows to work. For example, until recently, clicking the green button in a Photoshop window would not go full screen as in other Mac apps, it only maximized the window. macOS full screen support was only made to happen in a recent update, and only if you select the option Enable Native Full Screen in Photoshop Preferences > Workspace.

In fact that gives me an idea. Do your window management apps work any better if you select that Enable Native Full Screen option in Photoshop? I’m wondering if that would enable just enough native macOS window code to let those other apps work as expected.

I tried it out, and it seems to still snap back. Thanks for the suggestion though.
