Dragging a folder from Finder into Save for web (legacy) not working anymore

The natural flow for many people working in Photoshop on a Mac is this: Open a file from Finder. To save — in the same place — you drag the folder from Finder onto the file location window (save optimized as) in Photoshop.

As you all know the save as window always shows where the last file was saved to not opened from. Since there is no way to choose the place you’we opened the file from, when opening it from Finder, you drag the folder onto Photoshop’s save dialog.

Before this worked flawlessly in Save for Web, but now, when switching to finder, the file location window in Photoshop ends up under the save for web window. Therfor, you cannot drag the folder onto Photoshop to end up in the right folder.

The only way to accomplish this is if you shrink the save for web window and pulls the location window to the side before switching to Finder (which you have to do every time since photoshop won’t remepmber it’s last location).

This works when saving a file the usual way, but not in save for web (legacy). This used to work but stopped working a couple of versions back and is very annoying since it slows down the work flow.

I’m so happy for you. Then you won’t miss it 😉 And since you obviously feel the need to mension it, I have worked in the Adobe Suite since 2000... you know the good old days when it wasn’t even a suite and when things actually worked. It’s obvious that people have different workflows, so thank you for your constructive and very very useful comment.

I use SFW in production on a Mac (tens of thousands of images over the past nine + years) and have never used that workflow. Just my 2c.
