Easy colour change a smart object

Hi,

I'm working on someone else's file and they've set up layers which easily give a colour change to the object whilst retaining all the shadows and highlights. Does anyone know how this has been done?

I've attached the files and screenshot of the layers area.

Can anyone help or point me to a tutorial search term for what I need?

Thanks

Correct answer Mylenium
  • Color Overlay layer style
  • Gradient Map Adjustment layer
  • Solid adjustment layer in Overlay mode

You should render the band in a brighter color, though (grey) or else you won't be able to get correct behavior in soem areas due to how this stuff works.

Thank you. I'll give it a go.

Not sure what you are asking. There's clearly separate layer instances for each color and this isn't even particularly sophisticated overall. Beyond toggling visibility  there's nothing required to change the colors.

Hi Mylenium,

I have specific colour specs for 5 bands that I need to include, so what I'm asking is how you would usually go about changing the colours?

The attached is a 3D version I need to add 5 different colour ways to.
