Edit>Auto-Align layers crashes with more than 150 or so layers

I use Photoshop for some scientific uses. The Auto-Align layers command does not work if there are more than 120 to 150 layers. The green bar advances to about 10% of the way and then hangs.

 

 

 

Photoshop 23.3.2

Windows 10 Pro 21h2, AMD 5900X, RTX 3090, 128GB memory

    That's probably pushing the limits of the align command.

     

    What are the pixel dimensions of your document? Is your document 8-bit or 16-bit?

     

    If you're willing to share a folder of images or PSD with all the layers that you're trying to align, we'd be happy to try and troubleshoot with your dataset. Use CC files or dropbox to share a download link.
