edit in Photoshop not working properly

Why is this happenning again!. It's driving me mad!

 

When I select edit in Adobe Photoshop 2024 by right clicking on the image in Lightroom it opens Photoshop but doesnt open the image. 

The only way i can get to to open is to select open as smart object in Photoshop.

However when i close it in PS wether I click save or dont save i get the following error message.

Now if I click save it doesnt bounce back in to LR like it should do. Instead it puts a tiff file in the folder i was working in on my mac where it was in the first place. 

I then have to go to finder, find the file then right click open with and select LR

 

This happend before and i had to go back to an old version of PS but then it seemed to get fixed in an update but now its doing it again!

    When the 'link' between Lightroom Classic and Photoshop has issues, the first step is to try this:

    Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Application to uninstall Photoshop. When asked, keep preferences! After this reinstall Photoshop again.

     

    If this doesn't help the nest step is to reinstall both apps Lightroom and Photoshop. Please folloe the steps below:

     

    1. Open the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Client and uninstall both Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. When asked, keep preferences! 

    2. Install Photoshop first and then Lightroom Classic. The right order is very important here!

     

    If this doesn't help try the reinstallation with removing the preferences also.

      I was having this problem and at the suggestion of a forum post I went from Photoshop 25.0 back down to 24.7.1.  It fixed the problem, but now (a few weeks later) when I click on edit nothing happens until a right click a second time and again tell it to open in Photoshop.  I don't know if they are related problems, but it is annoying.
