Editing actions

Is it possible to edit an action step? I know I can delete existing steps and, by setting the current step and recording, add a step, but what I am asking about is actually editing a single step.

For example, in my attempt to learn about using and recording actions I created a shadow mask using a gradient map and a newly created shodows gradient. If I coud edit one of those steps by changing the selected gradient name to something else I could duplicate the steps and create midtone and highlists masks as well without having to record all of the indiviual steps for midtones and highlights.

As of now I have not found any way to do that, but then I am new enough to Photoshop that I might not know where to look.

For many action steps you can double click on the step to set new parameters.

You need to have an image open in photoshop before editing the action steps.

Ah. I clicked and right-clicked, but did not double-click. Thank you for the post.

Apparently this does not work for the step I want to edit (which specifies which gradient to select for the gradient map), but it will certainly be helpful for other actions.

It's also available as an action panel menu item – Record again:
