Question

End-of-file on ALL files while trying to save

Hey everyone

I have had CS5 for many years, recently and unexpectedly, every time I try and save any file, it results in the 'unexpected end-of-file was encountered' error. My actions look like this:

1     Open Tiff file from finder using photoshop application

2     Save-as png or jpg file

3     end-of-file error

I uninstalled PS, and reinstalled, yet the error persists. Every image file I open runs into the same error, it doesn't mater if I try to manipulate the file, or just save it as a different file type (jpg/tiff/png/ps). Every, single, file, results in the same error.

Help

Update: apparently saving the file for web and device 'save for web & device' works, but regular 'save-as' does not...

Exact operating system version, and did your problem start after an OS update?

Mac | OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

There was no system update between when PS was working and its now defunct state.

Reset the photoshop cs5 preferences and see if that solves the issue.

Press and hold the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after starting the launch of photoshop cs5

Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to Delete the adobe photoshop settings file

(you have to be quick about pressing the keys or you won't get the dialog below)

Press Yes
