Every versions of Photoshop crashes every time I open it, MAC os Catalina 10.15.7

Hi

I can't open Photoshop today, at all. I have unistalled it around 6 times already today, and then reinstalled most of the previous versions avaialble to me. Not a single one of them works anymore. Not a single one, you're kidding me Adobe?!

Last time I used it was April 23, and everything was fine. Now today (May 4), it will not open any version available. This is incredibly infuriating from a software package that costs users £50 a month. Unbelievable.

It doesn't even give me any useful information to try and Google to try and fix the issue. Just comes up with a crash report to send to Apple, and then one for Adobe that I can add a comment to. That's it. So frustaring, and a lousy user experience.

Seeing as no version is working, I have updated it back to the lastest version of Photoshop. I am using the latest version of Catalina. I have a late 2015 27" iMac with a 1 TB fusion drive with over 550 GB space left, and 32 GB of RAM.

Please, for the love of God and my own sanity, can someone suggest something to go research and try and find some answers? I have been Googling all morning and nothing I've come across is helping.

Thanks

Sorry to hear man, but why should it be Adobe/Photoshop? many other possible reasons…

Did you try to reset your preferences…?

Did you try the CC Cleaner App? (maybe better than just uninstall/reinstall)

If anyone else has this problem, or if it happens again to you, and you recently installed Apple Security Update 2021-002, this crash may be related to a problem Apple caused in that Security Update (it breaks OpenCL in macOS CoreImage).

So far I have been able to prevent the crashes by turning off OpenCL in Photoshop as described here.

You know I did that security update this weekend, and wondered if it had anything to do with it!

Much appreciated for the info, and will keep the info aside in case it happens again.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Joely,

I was not aware of the CC cleaner app, but this does seem to have fixed the issue.

Thanks,

Mike
