Question

Export As on selected layers locks up computer when I change the JPG quality

I have a simple PS file open 1800x900 ish, with 6 layers. I opened it fresh this morning and placed those layers in. I made generative fill changes to 4 of them and rasterized those changes. I rasterized all the files. I selected the 6 layers. I chose Export As. The last time I exported was JPG, so that's what I get when the export window comes up and that's what I want to export them as. The quality is set to 6. I can see the previews. I slide the JPG quality slider from 6 to 7 (why doesn't it go to 10?)  The first image is the only one selected on the left side of the panel so I select all the other images in order to make the same changes to them. I slide the quality from 6 to 7. The program freezes. This is the third time this morning. It also happened last week. I handle large files all the time and my computer is fast.

Hey, @rhinestonelife. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. We'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

I've tried to recreate this on my end, and the Export window behaves as expected.

As a basic step, backup your presets & ensure Photoshop is in the default state, go to the location of the preference folder below, and rename it to backup. https://adobe.ly/3tqVnGG

  • Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]
  • Press Windows + R & type this is the Run Window - %APPDATA%\Adobe

  • Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2024 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2024. old)

These changes will give a fresh start to Photoshop as a fresh install. Let me know if the issue exists.

Thanks!
