Question

Export Layers to File with Artboards

Hello,

I have a question about exporting with artboards. I've become very familiar with using artboards in Photoshop over the last few years and I love the workflow, but it seems like some functionality is still missing or misbehaving.

I have two artboards set up  with a few layers on each. (I am exporting a series of merch items into PNGs, one artboard has men's products and one has women's) I'd like to be able to batch-export these layers into their own PNG files. "Export artboard to files" is my go-to export option and works perfectly for multiple artboards with a one-image export. "Export layers to files" is more old-school, but seems like the right choice. There are even options for Trimming the layers --Great! But when I export, the layers are not trimmed and I have to re-import them all into photoshop and batch them out without artboards for it to work.

Is there a step that I'm missing, or is this just broken?

(Maybe my issue is that I'm using Photoshop CC2018 19.1.7 — not sure if this is corrected in CC2019, but I have not upgraded yet for two reasons: new versions are often fairly buggy and this version in particular requires an OS upgrade as well )

I can use a work-around in the meantime, but it takes much longer to do this manually and I'll need to do this for many items. Below is my screenshots of the artboard

set-up and the resulting export.

Any help to speed up this process would be appreciated! Thank you!

Perhaps your manual work around can be scripted.    Have you tried automating your work around.

    Hello

Do you mean you have artboards, and want export them as on one document?

    Hi,

I have two artboards, but I would like each layer to export as it's own separate PNG.

Currently it will export from both artboards, but the transparency space of each file is the total of the two combined artboards (if you look at the pictures it will make more sense -- you can see how much unnecessary transparent space there is around the exports)
