exr files will no longer open in the new version of PS (22.4.3)

I had the open exr plugin installed on the previous version of photoshop. Now when I open the same exr files I get the following error message 'Could not open "test_layers.exr" because of a problem with the file format module interface'. I have also tried to use the open as EXR and (open) EXR options.

i have the same issue.
And i work with EXR files all the time. This is very frustrating.
