Extendscript cep vs uxp

i'm living in 2 worlds Extendscript and uxp I don't understand what the future really is Extendscript is current and has a super forum with scripts for all tastes and needs, instead uxp which should be the new one, I find it not very present with little information and the dedicated forum is poor and without resources. I wonder if adobe really wants to change this system, in my opinion it should leave everything as it is, What do you think about it?

+ UXP has a distinct advantage over extendscript because of how easy it is to connect to other software/API's.

This is the single biggest advantage to me.

- Learning UXP can be problematic for creative types looking to "just mess around". UXP requires much more of a "programmer" mindset and the community isn't as big & approachable (yet).

 

+ The node.js basis is as common now as ES3 was for extendscript. This makes it more approachable for the young blood. Less arcane javascript stuff, more chatGPT ready. If the API is documented well enough, it should turn out just fine.

 

Or in a nutshell: Leaving things as they are impedes evolution. I dislike that.

I partially agree with what you say
the problem is that uxp has been available for these 3 years and I don't see many programmers heading towards it ,
the community is small and those few programmers are not as available as on this forum, even the documentation is sometimes insufficient.
so I don't see all this desire for uxp

You're right about the problems, they are there. So how could those be improved on while heading towards UXP?

 

Regarding desire, I suppose it depends on what you (want to) use es for, you know?

I mean, if you wont interact with modern technologies, then indeed there might not be too much benefit.

If however, you want to use, for example, some of the cloud functionality (neural filters) uxp is a much more suitable technology choice.

Sending an image to the internet is asynchronous behavior, and uxp is much much better equiped to handle that.

    UXP is new, ExtendScript has much more history behind it.

     

    It is expected that Adobe will continue to grow UXP and that eventually it will have more capabilities than ExtendScript.

     

    Perhaps you will be one of the key people to help others with UXP and bridge the knowledge gap!

    Sthepen with uxp there is little info and few programmers available that's why I asked myself the question whether it will have a future like jsx or cep. with uxp for now I see only limits.
