Extract Shadows in Photoshop

Hi everyone,

I need to extract a shadow from a picture and place it on its own separate layer.

Could you please help me?

I have tried to select it with channels and then using solid color fill layer but it seems it just enforces the shadow. Do you have any other suggestion?

Thank you so much!

If you're extracting it, I still think channels is a good bet. However, if it's emphasizing the shadow, then it sounds like you need to retouch the shadow out of the original layer. Some screen shots would be good, so we can give better advice.

Photoshop has many selection tools when all else fail you can always count on the pen tool. I also do not understand what your u mean by enforces the shadow
