Eyedropper outside of window not working correctly

Ever since I downloaded the new 2020 version of Photoshop I'm unable to colorpick outside of the workspace window. When I try to colorpick white for example, from outside of the window, it just gives me a greyish-blue. And so on with every other color I try to colorpick, it gives me another color in return. The settings are on point sample, sample current layer. Though any setting gives the same result. I already tried resetting my preferences as well but nothing has worked so far. I'm hoping someone here can help me fix this!
