F12 in Photoshop CC 2018

Apparently Adobe has general problems with the F12 key, but I didn't see anything like this so I'm going to mention it. F12 is supposed to be a shortcut for the menu item File-revert which resets an image to the state it was in when opened.

What F12 is doing for (to) me is saving the current file - a jpg - as a psd file under a totally different name in a totally different directory tree. There was a file "Grammy.psd", and F12 saved the jpg (a practice file) as Grammy-Edit.psd. I closed the jpg and opened Grammy-Edit.psd and sure enough, it was my jpg in the unreverted state it was in when I hit F12. The menu item File->Revert works correctly. This odd behavior happens with every file I tried it on - jpgs, psds, tiffs.

Any ideas?
