Hello IDK if someone noticed it, but when I finish my design in photoshop and export it as a PNG 24 file and it gets uploaded on FB, I find the png file is converted to Jpeg format. Is that normal??

So I  always knew that for web social media designs we use PNG format because it is lossless and that's what I am used to do all the time. Saying that Facebook convert it to Jpeg this means that it may affect the quality of my design right? Should I export my design as jpeg from photoshop instead of PNG? It's kinda distracting.

Facebook most likely does this to save server space, as the transparency in png makes them larger files. We never use png for larger banners on websites, they are much larger, occasionally one slips in that someone else did, and I notice that loading is not instant. PNG is not lossy but is lossless, there si a difference. Lossless means resaves do not degrade, but PNG-8 is lossy so you lose colors.

Sounds like you are looking for quality or color accuracy as you mentioned PNG 24. For the most part there is no reason for that, as a little bit of compression/color shift is most often not even noticeable.

Yes, it is. You can upload images to Facebook in any of the supported formats, but they will always convert into JPEG on Facebook's end.

I don't think it matters - Facebook will compress your files no matter what.
