Question

failed to fix issues with photoshop 21.1 and gpu drivers from Nvidia (win10)?

hello. I have issues with Photoshop 21.1

I've followed all the steps of the guide troubleshoot-gpu-graphics-card,

and still don't manage to overcome a  constant crash I get when working. At times such crash comes immediately after starting up the software and sometimes it comes past barely 1 minute after.

Updated the latest drivers from Nvidia Geforce ver 442.19 along with the latest Photoshop version and since the crashing still occurs, i started trying with past versions of the driver and photoshop from the last 3 months to check if it was a malfunction of both somehow. Everything is still the same.

The problem came with updating photoshop to the 21.1 at first, now not even past versions work for me.

Anyone knows how to solve compatibility problems with gpu drivers? perhaps is not the driver itself but another adobe component that is messing around with it?

If you still interested I just installed few minutes ago new updates - NVidia driver 442.59 and windows 10 cumulative update KB4540673 from March, 10 and now everything is fine - photoshop works normally and even my Jigsaw game stopped freezing.

Ok, I found a bit of workaround for me. For some reason when I choose to import (any random photo) from Lightroom first, import goes fine and I can work on a photo as usual. Or I can create new file, or open an existing one. Hardware setting in photoshop set as before - Drawing mode - Advanced, and so on. That's some startup bug it seems. When I try to create, or open a file from Welcome\Home page of Photoshop it crashes exactly like before. But if I open Lightroom photo first, then close it - everything works fine even from Welcome page.

I hope someone from Adobe will see this and do something about it.

Hi, I have same issues, I updated photoshop to 21.1 and NVidia driver to 422.19, and installed few windows 10 updates same evening few weeks ago, and cannot use Photoshop, or Illustrator since. It crashes when I try to open anything, or create a new document. Photoshop works when no GPU acceleration selected, but it lags so much it's unusable. I have tried to roll back photoshop for a few versions, and today I installed a newly released NVidia driver. No success. I believe there is something not properly deleted, or reset deep in the system after reinstalling of NVidia driver and it confuses Photoshop.

I REALLY do not want to make clean windows install, since it will take weeks to set all the software back.

Oh, and Microsoft Jigsaw game I used to play started to lag horribly after the updates, as well as the MS Calculator app, which is really bizzare, because I have powerful PC and this is very simply app. Something went horribly wrong.

Do you have problems with the calculator, or something else besides Adobe soft?

But you can make a clean driver install. Choose custom install and there should be a checkbox for it.

There's also a lot of additional components installed with the driver. You don't really need any of these, you can choose to install the base driver only.

I do clean driver install every time. It may be not that clean, as it sounds.

I think I will try to reinstall in the safe mode, when minimum background software running.
