Question

file save corruption/invalid document

Hello.

I have seen this happen with some members of our team, they save a file using "save copy" or "save as" and the resulting file couldn't be opened and we get an "invalid document" error. upon inspecting, PS saved the file as a ".bin" file despite having ".psd" as extension.

I've read similar issues since from the CS era and I don't think this is something that Adobe couldn't address easily but at the least I would like to know what is the cause of this so I could help inform the team as to how to handle saving files better or maybe even write a code just for this purpose. This is causing a huge problem and wasted resources.

This is the common version that we're using:

    v22.4.1 (Windows10)

Thanks and hoping for a reply, I will update you with more information if I ever find anything else.

I'm guessing that like so many others, your not going to like the answer:

Thank you, Stephen.

Apart from the link that you have posted I would be very happy if you could share other links and information that's related to this error that I could look into.
By the way, at the current environment this issue doesn't happen at all with the CS versions but it happens occasionally with v22.

Thank you, Stephen.
Over the network, sorry if I forgot to mention this.
I was told that it happens 1 out of 4 times so this is quite a high rate.

One of the messed-up files "xxx.psd" when viewed with a file info viewer showed up as a ".bin" file.
Have you seen this happen?
Ric.

Is your team saving direct to a local drive or are they opening/saving over a network to a server, nas drive etc?
