find and replace text not working

Hi all, I work in digital design and was using the "Find and Replace Text" tool all the time to edit multiple assets all at once. Always the same type of stuff, changing dates, titles of products, etc. Nothing too complicated. Now all of a sudden, it no longer replaces any of the text. The dialog box comes up, I enter in the text I want to replace with the new text, and click "Change All." I see the artboards shifting a bit one by one as if it's working, but the text stays the same. I've tried turning on and off the different checkboxes like "Case Sensitive," "Whole Word Only" etc. I've tried every option in the dialog box. This is extremely frustrating as it makes my job so much more time consuming, yet I can't find answers anywhere.
