Question

Flickering and crashing

Hello everyone,

I have a couple of problems which I would like to overcome with Photoshop 24.1.0

1) Under the performance tab within preferences, if I have "Use graphics processor" enabled the whole application flickers and becomes unusable.  Switching this option off is the known solution but I'd like to know if there is anyway to solve it without simply working around the issue?

2) Whenever I use the rectangular marquee tool to select an area and cut/copy etc, it carries out the operation and then hangs.  I have to open task manager to close Photoshop!  This issue is new and only appeared in the last update but I was curious if anyone else that this issue and how they solved it?

Thanks in advance.

This approach, native canvas and older GPU seems to have removed a lot of the provlems I was facing.  Photoshop is much more stable, thank you.

If neither of these work, we'll need more information to help.

Go to Photoshop Help Menu/System Info and copy/paste details here.

Go to Preferences/Technology Preview and check "Disable Native Canvas".

If that does not resolve go back to Technology Preview and check "Older GPU mode (2016)".

Restart Photoshop after each change.
