Question

Floating windows will not dock in PS cs5

Hello!

For a while now, I have not been able to drag a floating window to be docked. I found a way around it by simply closing and then reopening it into the dock. But my History window accidentally got separated, and that too won't dock when I try to drag it back into the other tool window.

Would you happen to have any advice on how to make it dock again (my docking is on in the preference too: I tried turning it on and off, and closing and reopening photoshop, but no luck).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much for your time and any assistance you may provide!

Best,

P.S. Someone had a similar prob just this past Oct. it seems, and I do not have a Magnet app to turn off like they had discovered to fix their issue.

I see you are using a mac  and I see you can get  a frame edges to turn blue but windows keep snapping back.   I also know some Mac users have some Magnetic windows snapping software installed.  If you have that installed it may be interfering with Adobe windows management.

I'm on windows 10 and I find it difficult at times to get the frame edge to turn blue even.  But I can usually manages with some persistence to get what want to configure

Yeah, no magnet app (i mention that in the first post ).

Have tried so many combinations: It used to work like normal (on my same system and etc. ), but suddenly it just...stopped.

I'm a Windows user so I know little about Mac OSX  I dropped Apple  back in the OS7 and Os9 days.  I'm sure noe thar Apple OSx is a unix like system the mac work better.  I have seen many  threads lately about problems with Mojave and Photoshop like Keyboard keys seem to be stuck.  Have you just updated to Mojave?

you may try:

window -> arrange -> consolidate all to tabs

Oh, thank you, I'll try that for the file windows next time! I'm afraid that doesn't seem to help for the main problem. Thank you for the quick response though!

It don't seem to have such an option for the Tool windows issue described.

For reference: I keep mine stacked, swatches | history | layers+channels. But the history got floated somehow, and will not dock again.

Thank you for your time, and any further help you can give!

To dock palettes there is a delay you need to drag the tole the frame edge you what to dock it to and keep the mouse button clicked till you get the frame edge to turn blue then let go of the mouse button.
