Font preview extremely slow since newest update

Just updated to 21.2.4 and now the fonts take forever to preview whe using the dropdown selector. I have <100 fonts which should not be the problem, and it has never been an issue before. But now every time I try to select a font I keep getting the "Rendering Type" popup and it takes 10-20 seconds to preview. I even change the font preview size to "none", and that helps some but it's still very slow?
