Question

Free Transform edits won’t stay.

I'm using Photoshop 2022 on a PC, and having a brand-new problem with the free transform tool. It works just fine until I try to hit enter or the little check-box, and then whatever I'm editing just snaps back to the original. I've tried restarting photoshop, purging the history and clipboard, and restarting my computer. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know how to fix it?

  • Are you frequently saving PSD files to your primary hard drive (Ctrl/Cmd + S)?
  • Does your computer profile have full read/write/edit permissions?
  • Are the files read/writable?

Thanks:

I do primarily save my files to my computer, but I also tried saving to the cloud. It didn't make a difference.
I do have full permissions on my profile.
The files are read/writeable, and every other change besides free-transform is 'sticking' without issue. It's only the free-transform that has been having problems.
I ran a full update on my PC and it seems to have resolved the issue. I'll see if the problem comes back or not.

When things stop working it's often a memory issue.

How much scratch disk and RAM are available to Photoshop?

  • Edit > Preferences > Scratch Disk
  • Edit > Preferences > Performance
