Freeze/Hang and non-updating image in 2022/2021

I've been having an issue in 2022 and 2021 (Not the 2020 version) where after drawing anything and leaving the program for a while, say to use the internet on another monitor, the outer layer of the canvas changes to either a different colour or a cut in of the splash screen or home screen. When like this, I can draw but the image doesn't update and I can't see my progress. If I switch layers it updates the image which everything I've done, as well as any changes shown or hidden layers. This makes Photoshop almost unusable for art.

Other options like being able to save a file still works. I cna open a new canvas but it suffers from the same problem. I've attached a video showing me trying to use Photoshop in this state.

Hello, I would also try the new update posted today, 23.5.1 that fixes a similar issue: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/fixed-issues.html

Thanks for the reply, I'll try updating when I've tested the rest.

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Does turning on »Deactivate Native Canvas« (Photoshop > Preferences > Technology Previews) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Hi thanks for replying, I'm trying the Use Graphics Processor setting just waiting to see if it happens again or not. I've not tried Native Canvas can give that a go after

Use Graphics Processor didn't fix it, trying the Native Canvas one now
